I just learned about the Greek train accident where over 60 people died. The entire Greek rail system is obsolete. and relies on a single point of failure. Apparently, Greece has the highest number of deaths in Europe regarding train accidents.
I was shocked to find that I was aboard on that train too 3 years ago. Poor Greeks....
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the families.
Thank you for your response. I wish I shared your optimism.
In fact, 5 months ago, I moved to Sweden with my family. We couldn't make ends meet. Fortunately, we found well-paid jobs here and we live with dignity. However, we miss Greece.
I hope things will change in the future. Greece needs a bold and pragmatic politician who is willing to make drastic reforms, but no one has stood up to the challenge so far. We'll see.
Hi Adonis, thank you for your comment. The article’s title should give it away from the get-go: it only covers 10 positive (data-based rather than politically-biased) metrics about Greece.
Does this mean that Greece is a paradise or even that there are no negatives / problems / challenges / risks in the country? Not at all. I can think of at least 100 on top of my head. In fact, I call out many of these issues often, and also intend to cover a number of them in this newsletter.
Here are a few recent examples (including about the metric you cited):
No way. Greece is a failing state.

A fully politically-biased article. These graphs do not reflect the real financial situation of Greece.
For example, Greece is the champion in EU regarding the percentage of disposable income for housing costs (38%).
Also, 38% of Greeks are at risk of extreme poverty.
