Well done for highlighting the issue .

There are some strong Diaspora networks but not enough present or engaged in Greece on the ground

Successive governments are only coying to Diaspora for electoral gains only. The Ministerial positions for Diaspora are given to party members who lack knowledge and experience

I have met a few and none was up to the job .

There is a new budding citizens movement with a mission to restaure Greece , I.e rally citizens support to demand changes and respect for Hellenism . I think the Diaspora can play an important role in this

I don't think the politicians will ever (or even can) help with the diaspora meaningfully. There needs to be one or more grassroots movements from the bottom-up (that may or may not be embraced by the political class later on).

We see what happens in Greece with persistent cases of corruption coming up (funny everyone acts with surprise as if they do not know what happens around them.. 😀🤔😀🤔).. and we feel more and more distant and foreign to what is our true home.. sad but true..

I think corruption always existed in the country. What's encouraging to me is real and important cases (rather than media-inflated scandals) being finally exposed. This makes me slightly more optimistic.

Dear Greek Analyst,

You should take a look at this

https://www.talesofcyprus.com/product/the-corsica/

This Cypriot-Australian has documented some truly astounding stories of resilience of Greek Cypriots and their journeys to the New World, wherever that was.

So true.. there is also a new wave of diaspora, 30-20 - 10 years since they left.. we don’t yet feel as diaspora but we are..

Spot on! I find that the expats of the past 15-20 years are one of the most interesting (and high-potential) sub-groups of Greece's diaspora.
